Nominee's Bio: Recognized and awarded as an outstanding youth in Health, in Ghana’s 25 under 25 awards and magazine, 2022. Abdul-Samed Faisal Gunu has been a major advocate for the sustainable development goals for the past 5 years, with 15 years of experience in student leadership. He is a student in the U.D.S school of medicine (class of 2022), a member of the Rotary Club community serving as the current president of the Rotaract Club of UDS-Tamale, a Public Health and Green activist, and has been a delegate of the Ghana International Model United Nations (GIMUN) & Youth International Summit Model United Nations (YISMUN). With a good background in Health and Health promotion, he has developed a keen interest in impacting deprived communities in Northern Ghana through Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH). This has led him to establish the Water-Lily Foundation, targeting the SDGs 3, 6, & 13, as the CEO of the foundation they have been able to change lives through many projects; some of which include the construction of a Mechanized Borehole to support people living in the Botingli community who have been afflicted with a history of long-standing drought, the foundation also adopted the CLTS approach of training each household to build a toilet for their house and to ensure proper hygiene through hand washing, so far more household toilets have been established in the Botingli community with the hope of declaring them ODF, also, with the belief that children are the game changers of the future, the foundation has kicked started its Basic Education on WASH coupled with the free distribution of books on how to make good life choices, so far two schools have been impacted in this intiative.
