Nominee's Bio: Ibrahim Oppong is a Journalist with the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, Gbc, with years of experience as a news anchor, programme host and a reporter, having covered many national and international events. His documentaries on the state of Ghana's Prisons - 'Inside Prison' , 'Prisons Agriculture' and a ' Neglected Potential', details the numerous infractions of the law, and exposes the deplorable conditions in most of Ghana's Prisons. He is the host and producer of the first ever Prison TV series in Ghana, ''Time with the Prisoner'' - A One-on-One interview with prisoners. My passion for Prisons and Child Labour reporting has won him several awards. He is also the Ambassador Extraordinaire of Ghana Prisons - a voluntary position that entails highlighting deplorable Prison conditions and seeking public support to improve infrastructure and the welfare of inmates. As Executive Director of Crime Check Foundation, an NGO, sensitizing the public to the dangers of crime through the screening of Life in Prison documentaries in schools, churches, mosques, communities and other trouble spots in Ghana, has been my major objective. The first ever launch of a National Stop Crime Campaign in Ghana to champion this effort has been undertaken by his foundation , CCF, to deter crime. My research on Child Labour in Ghana, " Documentation of Good Practices and Lessons Learnt of ECOWAS 1 &2 Projects to Enhance the Elimination of Child Labour in Ghana", offers a comprehensive insight into the complex and varied forms of Child Labour in Ghana. His work as a journalist goes beyond the shores of Ghana. He have interviewed many British politicians including the former UK Secretary of State for International Development, Justine Greening, former UN Special Rapporteur on Religious Freedom and Belief, Professor Heiner Beldfelt, Metropolitan Commissioner of Police, UK, Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe, Mayor of Merton, UK, Agatha Akyigyina, Minister of Aviation, Lord Tariq Ahmad of Wimbledon, the Spiritual Head, Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hadzrat Mirza Masroor Ahmed, Mayor of Hillingdon, John Hensley and other prominent individuals.
